Our Vision...

Our vision is to produce loyal companions which contribute to the Australian Shepherd breed... We strive to promote Aussies that are pleasing in appearance, possess strong herding instincts, soundness of mind and body, intelligence, and the athletic ability to accomplish any task given to them whether it is herding sheep or completing a qualifying round in the agility ring.

Catera is a small kennel located in the heart of Southwest Michigan and Central Texas. Our focus is to promote quality Australian Shepherds. We prefer the red Aussie but we love the breed in its entirety. Our mission is the preservation of the "all around" Aussie while maintaining the breed standards. Catera's definition of an all around Aussie is a dog that possesses a sound mind, correct structure, and athletic ability.

Our goal at Catera is to preserve the integrity of the breed. When we occasionally choose to breed our Aussies, a lot of forethought and planning takes place. The result... Aussies that are correct in type, form, structure, and meet established standards set forth by the various kennel clubs--Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) and the American Kennel Club (AKC).

As a whole, Catera's vision is to contribute to this wonderful breed by producing all around/versatile Australian Shepherds. In order to achieve this goal, we must have the necessary information about our dogs' genetic background. We support all research that will not only help the wonderful Australian Shepherd but all dogs. Let's keep our breed healthy and sound!

Proud supporters of the "10-Steps" Program.
